I wanted to take some time and give back to everyone who visits this website and reads this blog. I enjoy being a therapist. I’m grateful for all of the experiences I’ve had. One of my favorite experiences has been teaching psycho education groups. I love to learn new things about helping people and I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. Over the next few weeks, I am going to post some articles about stress management and hopefully it will turn into a nice little guide.
For starters I want to share an acronym that I found a few years ago. The word STRONG, a lovely word so full of hope and power.
Sleep as much as you need, avoid over sleeping or under sleeping.
Take prescribed medications
Resist street drugs and alcohol
Once a day, make a gratitude list.
Nutrition-eat in a balanced way.
Get Exercise every day.
I love this acronym because it really sums up Stress Management in a number of ways. Most importantly making sure that we are physically in a good place so that we are prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.
Over the next few weeks look out for posts about taking care of your physical bodies, coping with emotions, improving your relationships, etc.
